The Albums

Here Is Kate's Complete Discography of Albums In Order Of Release.

Kate's Debut Album The Kick Inside was released on the 17th February 1978. It contained her debut #1 single Wuthering Heights. To the left you will see all of the variations in cover art that was used. The TOP LEFT being the most common. The TOP RIGHT the US one. And the BOTTOM LEFT being the Canada one. It has great success and reached #3 in the UK charts. It was 13 tracks chosen from Kate's wide range of over 100 songs. The album also featured her singles The Man With The Child In His Eyes and Them Heavy People.

Lionheart was kates 2nd album of 1978. 2 albums in 1 year! It included quite a few of kates early songs she had written such as "Kashka From Bagdad" and "Hammer Horror". The album consists of 11 tracks that are all amazing and worth a listen. One of my favorite tracks on it is "Oh England My Lionheart". It really strikes deep with the feeling of war and true peace. The singles from this album are "Wow" and "Hammer Horror" with "Fullhouse" and "Coffee Homeground" being the b-sides. As far as i know there was only ever one cover used for this album. Some of the alternative photos have now been released to the public which can be seen above.
The font used for the title is Modern no 20 and is used by Kate throughout the rest of her courier.

Her third album "Never For Ever". It was released on 8th September 1980 and was her 1st Number 1 Album.
It Contained the singles: "Babooshka", "Army Dreamers" and "Breathing". "Babooshka" reached no 5 in the UK charts and no 2 in Australia. This was her biggest single since "Wuthering Heights". The song "Violin" had been written a long time before the release of this album and early versions were performed on "The Tour Of Life". Egypt was also performed on that tour. "Blow Away" was dedicated to Bill Duffield the lighting director that passed away during the tour due to an accident. The show "In Aid Of Bill Duffield" was performed at the Hammersmith Odeon in his memory. This album was Kate's first use of the CMI Fairlight that would later become a big part of her musical courier. The Glass Smash effect on the end of "Babooshka" was created by this, also the whistle sound on " All we ever look for". "Breathing" was a song based around nuclear war which was a big topic at the time. The song travels through the story of a fetus that is aware of what's going on outside of the womb and is aware of nuclear fallout. The song's tone was inspired by "The Wall" by Pink Floyd, in particular Side 3. The album cover was illustrated by Nick Price who also designed the cover of the program for "The Tour Of Life". The cover was voted "Greatest Album Cover Of 1980" by record mirror.
